Skänninge

If you are interested in history, you should head to Skänninge – one of Sweden's oldest cities. In the middle of Östergötland's richest agricultural area, surrounded by noble estates and royal estates, Skänninge emerged as a hub for trade on the Östgöta plain.

In old Skeninge there are unique and well-preserved wooden houses. Here you can stroll around narrow streets among low houses and museums that depict life as it once was. There is also the Town Hall, where an elephant once sought refuge, and Ture Lång, which looks out over the square.

Around Skänninge there are well-preserved ancient monuments that testify to the historical importance of the place. For those who want to remain in the present, there is also an outdoor swimming pool, cinema and shops.
