The Potato Roundabout
In Mjölby municipality, located in the middle of fertile Östergötland, you will find a King Edward potato placed in the middle of a roundabout.

Why is there a King Edward in the roundabout?
Here in Mjölby municipality, a variety of companies linked to food production have developed. In addition to all the agricultural companies on the Östgöta plain, many companies operate in the processing industry. There are many large plantations of grain, vegetables and of course potatoes.
In the municipality there are a number of companies in the food industry, such as ASM Foods, Mantorpsköket, Fåddman and Lantmännen, with several different operations. Swedish honey refinement operates the country's largest processing facility for both Swedish and imported honey right here.
Food also recurs in upper secondary education. We are very proud of Dackeskolan, which runs one of Sweden's most successful chef educations. The students have won many fine awards and the Swedish Culinary Championships for high school students several times.
Food is therefore particularly important in Mjölby municipality. To symbolize this, we have chosen to place a King Edward potato in one of our roundabouts.
