Heritage center
Explore the beautifully constructed environments where you will find everything from a spiking machine, general store, stone quarry to telephones and much more. An experience for both young and old.
The Sya local heritage center was established in 1947 and is run by the Sya local heritage association, which cares for, preserves, and makes the local cultural heritage accessible for future generations. Among the collections is the nail machine "Ettan," which was demonstrated by Axel Ekblad at the World Exhibition in Stockholm in 1897. It is said that the nail machine stole all the attention and was therefore only allowed to be operated at limited occasions so as not to detract from the other exhibition sites.
Throughout the year, the association organizes several events and activities at the heritage center. Traditional Walpurgis Night celebrations, Sya Day, and Christmas at the heritage center are a few examples.
From Sya, follow the signs to the Heritage Center. Turn left after the railway underpass and continue through the residential area. After about 1 kilometer, turn right and follow the sign to the Heritage Center. After about 300 meters, the Heritage Center will be on your right side.
