Museum Mjölby heritage center

Museum, Cultural history

The museum is located on an islet in the middle of Svartån, a hidden oasis right in the heart of Mjölby.

The museum is run by the Mjölby Local Heritage Association. Buildings and fine collections from the 18th century to the present day are on display. Among other things, there is a fine collection of intarsia, which is a hallmark of Mjölby's industrial history. In 1909, Knut Werner Dahlström founded Mjölby Decoupeurfabrik, which in 1917 was transformed into the limited company Mjölby Intarsia. During the 1930s, large inlays were delivered to, among others, larger passenger ships, bank palaces, and other public buildings.

The museum's opening hours for 2026 are June 6 - August 30, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from 1 PM to 5 PM.
